Curatorial Residency

The Cloud Seven Curatorial Residency invites a resident curator to research the collection in depth and engage with Brussels’ contemporary art scene over three to four months. Central to this experience is the exploration of artworks from both local artists and those within Frédéric de Goldschmidt’s collection. The residency culminates with a curated exhibition with works from the collection and/or artists met during the residency that opens for Art Brussels, the pinnacle moment of the art calendar of Brussels, drawing international audiences and providing an ideal platform for cultivating connections with fellow arts professionals.

Who we are

Nestled in the heart of Brussels, Cloud Seven is an art and work space committed to nurturing the exploration and appreciation of contemporary art. We are uniquely designed with coworking and exhibition spaces, a bar, a multimedia room, a wellness center, and private apartments for rental—all within a seven-story building spanning 1,500 sq.m.

The Cloud Seven Curatorial Residency offers a unique opportunity for a resident curator to delve into the rich artistic landscape of Brussels and Belgium at large. Central to this experience is the exploration of artworks by locally based artists and from Frédéric de Goldschmidt’s collection, and to create a dialogue between both.

Who we seek

We are looking for a curator from a conflict-affected or underrepresented context with previous experience curating at least two realized exhibitions, who is interested in engaging with Brussels’ vibrant contemporary art scene, exploring new perspectives on curatorial practice and artistic creation, and broadening the scope of their research through dialogue with artists, collections, and international cultural networks. Preference will be given to candidates interested in contributing to the global project The Memorial for Those Who Did Not Fall in War, initiated by Hadas Zahavi in collaboration with Columbia University, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and the European Union which starts at Cloud Seven in September 2026.

More about the Cloud Seven Curatorial Residency

Born out of the desire to extend the reach of the physical collection, the Cloud Seven residency project is more than a program—it is a catalyst for curators to shape their vision and expand their network through in-depth investigations and meaningful contacts in the heart of Europe. It stands as a testament to our commitment to supporting the development
of curatorial talent.

Throughout the residency, we will provide comprehensive support to the resident curator. In addition to full access to the collection digital and physical archives and regular conversations with the collector, the resident will be able to make connections with key art figures in Belgium, through a bespoke program of studio visits and meetings. The timing of
this exhibition coincides with Art Brussels, a pinnacle moment in the season, drawing international audiences and providing an ideal platform for cultivating connections with fellow arts professionals.

 ...

Throughout the residency, the resident curator is encouraged to explore diverse projects, like talks, conference panels, online publications, or digital endeavors. These initiatives aim to foster a dialogue between the works of encountered artists and the pieces within the collection, further enriching the residency experience and hopefully leaving a lasting impact on the broader artistic community.

Our aspiration is that resident curators forge enduring connections with artists, curators, organizations, and audiences in Brussels and internationally, contributing to a future that is both impactful and enduring.
