Amaru’s Tongue: Daughter by Chuquimamani-Condori and Joshua Chuquimia Crampton, hosted by Anna Lancry.
We are excited to announce our next event, a presentation of Amaru’s Tongue: Daughter in the context of Chuquimamani-Condori’s European tour. This captivating film is a poignant tribute to the artists’ late grandmother and offers a rich tapestry of storytelling rooted in the Aymara community. Shot on 8mm film with stunning hand-drawn animation sequences, and featuring a mesmerizing score by Joshua Chuquimia Crampton, the film immerses viewers in the traditions and oral history of the Aymara people. Through the voices of Flora, her sister Mercedes, and her daughter Fanny, the film offers a deeply personal exploration of abolitionist history and our inseparability from the Pachamama.
The film runs for 47 minutes and we invite you to join us for a drink in the Cloud Bar upstairs afterwards.
