A Public Affair will open on Thursday 12 September 2024 for the new festive art RendezVous in Brussels. We will welcome you with champagne and sushi from 14:00 to 21:00.

The exhibition raises questions about spaces we often use, such as churches, playgrounds, and cinemas. Are they truly public, or do they belong to the private? The exhibition also examines how people and communities navigate larger systems like work, property, and the economy. Lastly, it reflects on how much control we really have over our thoughts and actions when faced with the rules and authority of those in power.

A Public Affair, curated by Bayo Hassan Bello, features works by Helena Almeida, Reza Aramesh, Éric Aupol, Younes Baba-Ali, Aline Bouvy, James Casebere, Laurie Charles, Aleskandra Chaushova, David Claerbout, Margaret Courtney-Clarke, Tacita Dean, Dries Depoorter, Romuald Hazoumè, Jan Henderikse, Hideyuki Ishibashi, Sven ‘t Jolle, Kapwani Kiwanga, Maria Kley, Michel Mazzoni, Jacqueline Mesmaeker, Terrence Musekiwa, Sophie Nys, Camille Orso, Michael Patterson-Carver, Carmen Reátegui, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Barthélémy Toguo, Isaac van Nikelen, Nico Williams, Ulla-Stina Wikander, Wiktoria Wojciechowska and Yunyao Zhang.
