Augmented reopening
A Public Affair: Final Act
As part of the PhotoBrussels Festival, A Public Affair returns with an expanded exhibition curated by Bayo Hassan Bello, featuring iconic and emerging artists. Dive into a compelling exploration of intimacy, public space, and their powerful intersections.
Cloud Seven is delighted to participate in the 9th edition of the PhotoBrussels Festival by inviting you to the “augmented reopening” of its exhibition A Public Affair. On this occasion, the exhibition has been enriched with an entire floor of new photographs, curated by Bayo Hassan Bello, further exploring the boundaries between public and private.
The twenty photographs originally featured in A Public Affair are now complemented by works from established artists such as Robert Mapplethorpe, Danh Vō, and Shirin Neshat, alongside a younger generation, such as Brussels-based Léa Belooussovitch or Yoel Pytowski, with an in situ installation.
These works, drawn from Frédéric de Goldschmidt’s collection, offer a perspective on the relationship between intimacy and public space. The exhibition, envisioned as a third chapter, creates a dialogue with its predecessors, A Private Affair and A Public Affair, exploring the transition from intimacy to exposed intimacy—often imbued with poignant, politically charged, and sometimes dramatic struggles.
We look forward to welcoming you on Wednesday 22 January, the day before the official start of the PhotoBrussels Festival, to experience this enriched and thought-provoking event on the exhibition floors as well as in our Cloud Bar.
Following the vernissage, the exhibition will run from January 23 through March 29, with public visiting hours from 14:00 to 18:00, Tuesday to Friday. In addition, visitors will have special opportunities to experience the exhibition on Saturdays during the festival:
- Saturday, January 25 & Sunday, January 26: 14:00 – 18:00
- Saturday, February 1, 8, 15, 22: 14:00 – 18:00
