Daniel Nicolaevsky Maria performs with his body bound by ropes, suspended from the ceiling, and accompanied by the voice of Emmanuelle.

The performance symbolically explores the concept of “attachment” in its broadest sense: attachment to loved ones, cherished places, and the earth. This dual attachment both imprisons us and provides the vital strength to persist in life. The body becomes a subject of inquiry, questioning the place of this strange, foreign presence in its environment, hanging in space like a sculptural or photographic work. At the end of the performance, the ropes will remain in place, forming a swing that the audience is invited to engage with. Through this artistic and bodily gesture, the artist engages with intimately profound themes such as freedom, connectivity, and physical capacity, inviting us to reflect on and engage with the ideas of power and love.

In the context of the exhibition, A Private Affair curated by Bayo Hassan Bello.

Vernissage starts on Thursday 16 May at 18:00 and is followed by a performance.
